The European Way to Excellence is based on actual case-studies of 35 European manufacturing, service and public sector organisations, ranging in size from very small to large. The 35 case-studies itself were written by professors and co- professors of renowned universities from all over Europe under the guidance of the authors.

The fact-based analysis, developed in close consultation with the case-study writers, examines what quality management and the quest for excellence means to European organisations. It describes how they have managed both business and organisational challenges and paints a picture of the approaches chosen. The emphasis is on providing insights, rather than developing “recipes” or “how-to” models. Is is thus descriptive, not prescriptive.
